Estimated valueHow we estimate this
Point values are estimates rather than fixed exchange rates. Our benchmarks combine published valuations from independent travel-rewards sources. Where comparable estimates are available, we use the middle of those estimates rather than copying one publisher. AwardWallet’s observed redemption data provides context but is generally not averaged directly into the benchmark: its method differs and may include premium-cabin awards.
The published range spans differing methods. It is not a statistical confidence interval or a guaranteed value.
Confidence describes source coverage, not statistical certainty. High means several independent benchmark sources; medium means two useful sources or notable disagreement; limited means primarily one benchmark source or sparse observed data.
Actual value varies by hotel, route, cabin, date, award availability, taxes, fees and program rules.

For hotels, use the total cash price you would pay. Enter mandatory award resort fees or charges here.
Enter the cash price and points required to compare this booking. Leave fees blank if there are none.
(Cash price − award fees) ÷ points required × 100; score = redemption value ÷ benchmark × 100.
What is a point worth?
There is no fixed exchange rate. Our benchmark is expressed in US cents per point and gives you a starting point for a redemption decision. Hilton Honors at 0.40¢ means 10,000 points are worth about $40, not $0.40 each.
How are the estimates made?
The September 2026 seed draws on published valuations from The Points Guy, Frequent Miler, NerdWallet and Upgraded Points. Where comparable estimates exist, we use a middle value. AwardWallet's observed bookings add context, but their different method is generally not averaged into the benchmark. The published range is a span of estimates, not a promised value.
How do I compare cash and points?
First subtract award taxes and fees that you still have to pay from the cash price. Divide the remainder by the points required to find the redemption value. A score of 100 is roughly equal to the program benchmark. Your cash needs, expiring points and balance may also matter.
Why do airline and hotel values vary?
For flights, route, cabin, date, award availability and surcharges can change the value dramatically. For hotels, room price, award availability, resort fees and program rules matter. Use the total cash price you would actually pay and enter any mandatory award charges as fees.
